10 Things You May Not Know About Me

10 Things You May Not Know About Me

With my birthday coming up in a week I want my readers to get to know me on a more personal level. As a young woman I am constantly changing and evolving. At the age of 27, I have experienced a lot of changes and differences that have created the unique person that I am and will be come. Here is a list of 10 things that most people do not know about me.

1. I do not like food that is hot!

I know this may be a bit strange to some people but I don’t like my food to be at a hot temperature which means not fresh off the stove or out the oven or off the grill. I rather my food room temperature or warm. I will cook food and leave it to rest until it has reached my desired temperature. However, there are certain foods that I must have hot such as soup, macaroni pie, ribs, chicken wings and McDonalds French fries.

2. I do not like my food touching!

This is another little quirk of mine. I have to make sure that I have my salad in another bowl so that the dressing does not touch any other food that is on the plate. Everything needs to have a bit of space (lol). This being said, I accidentally had my spaghetti with meat sauce touch my salad with ranch dressing once and from then that is the only food that can be mixed altogether and I will enjoy eating it.

3. I Read a Lot

I have been reading since I was about two and a half years old. I read every day and sometimes even multiple books. I love reading so much that I read pretty much anything and anywhere that I can. I have actually missed my stop on the bus and on the train from being so engrossed in my books. I would say I read about 2 books a day, depending on the length and content. I actually usually read books on my iPad because carrying around 2 or more books in purse is a hassle but also because I would be at the bookstore way too much if I was buying paperbacks.

4. I am very shy
– To people that have known me for many years they may forget that I am actually a very person. I do not really go out to social events, clubs and parties. I am that person that you may see at events standing beside the one person she knows watching my surroundings. All throughout high school I was rarely if ever on stage or making school speeches and announcements However, once I am comfortable in my new environment and have made some friends, I am a lot more open and social.

5. I am happiest when cooking

I deal with my stresses and anxieties the same way a lot of people do I cook and/or bake. However, sometimes I can go a bit over board especially if I am overly stressed. There have been many instances where I am cooked everything I could possibly find in my house at 2 am. I love cooking for myself as I can choose what to cook and can cook to my tastes. But I do love cooking for others; it brings me joy to see someone enjoying food that I have made.

6. Growing up I wanted to be an archaeologist or Egyptologist

From I was about 4 years old until I was 17 years old I had always wanted to be an archaeologist or Egyptologist. I have always had an intense fascination with ancient civilizations especially Egypt. Growing up I used to go the library and museum with my family a lot to do research and learn as much as I possibly could. When I was younger I actually learned how to read and understand hieroglyphics which was hard but made me very proud to know.

7. I love CHOCOLATE but not chocolate pudding

This is something that my friends are always confused about and I honestly can never give a good answer as to why. I have a serious obsession with chocolate; I have actually eaten a box of Smarties for 365 days (Now I never eat smarties). But the taste of chocolate pudding has never ever appealed to me. I can eat dark chocolate, milk chocolate, even orange flavored chocolate but I stop at chocolate pudding and mint chocolate. Side note: I will never understand why or how chocolate and mint go together.

8. I want a puppy
Anyone who knows me knows that I have a serious fear of dogs. I have a fear of them but I do not have a dislike for them. I never used to understand what the fuss was about with having a dog until I house sat in 2016. I totally get why people get dogs, it’s so nice to have someone extremely excited when you come home every day. It’s nice to have a constant cuddle buddy and someone who will listen to you with no judgement or malice intentions. I was still afraid of them for a bit but I think my fear now has more to do with mot understanding dogs than with the thought I will be mauled to death.

9. I do not have a favorite sports team

Growing up as the only female surrounded by boys I loved sports. I love playing sports and watching sports. I actually played a lot of sports in elementary and middle school. I played basketball, volleyball, badminton and did track and field. However my interest in sports has decreased a lot since then. I do enjoy watching Blue Jays games, FIFA World Cup and the Olympics but I actually do not watch professional sports and I do not have a favourite team.

10. I went to my first concert in 2016

I have always wanted to go to a concert but the right opportunity did not present itself until last year. I had the chance to go to my first concert with a close friend of mine. The acts were New Kids on the Block, and TLC. For this being my first concert I was so happy to be going to see TLC. The concert was one the best times of my life and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. We had great seats, got to eat good food and the performances were the best.
