Self care is very important to me and has been something I have added to my weekly routine. I call it my Self Care Sunday. My activities change each week but the main principle is to take the day for myself for self care.
Some times I do Self Care Sunday at home, sometimes I go out, splurge and treat myself.
When I am home I begin by setting the ambiance. I do this by lighting candles, using rose essential oils in my essential oil diffuser, lay out my crystals and I immediately start feeling relaxed and better. If I am going to be giving myself a manicure or pedicure, I remove all my old nail polish, trim my nails and push back my cuticles. After that, I take a nice hot shower using one of my relaxing shower melts, play some spa music and let the hot shower relax my muscles.
My favourite scents are:
- Champagne Rose
- Peach Bellini
- Pure Rose
After taking a shower I put on my fancy robe, spray my Rihanna perfume and get dressed. If I am staying home for the day, I will put on some lingerie or a sexy bodysuit ( Side Note: You do not need a reason to wear lingerie.) I make myself a pitcher of detox water or tea, make myself a meal and relax.
My favourite meal/ snack options include:
- Meat & Cheese Board
- Steak and Salad
- Shrimp Cocktail
- French Onion Soup
- A Fancy Salad
When it comes to relaxing this can mean remaining home or leaving. I will stay home and catch up on all the tv shows I have missed in the week, I will watch a new movie I haven’t had the time to watch, I will also catch up on a book I have wanted to finish reading or simply I will catch up on sleep. Its nice to catch up on tv shows but I must admit I watch a lot of reality tv and am trying to detox from that. For the past two months, I have been watching lot of documentaries and Ted Talks. I have learned a lot of new things in regards to the government and business but I have also discovered new interests.
If I do decide to leave the house, I like to either go shopping, go see some friends or go out to eat. Self Care Sundays is all about to relaxing, taking care of yourself and recharging your battery. Sometimes, I will search on Groupon for deals on concerts, theater performances, dinners or spa packages. It’s a great way to have new experiences within a budget.
I got the idea of Self Care Sundays from a book I read called, The Weekend Makeover. It is about essentially making over every main aspects of your life in a weekend. The book is by Jill Martin & Dana Ravich and is a must read. This was a book I turn to a couple of times a year, when I need to get back to the basics and live simple. This book takes away a lot of excuses after reading it and you will feel so recharged, motivated and inspired to makeover your life and live your best life.
